System Leadership Board meetings to be held in public
The North Cumbria Health and Care System Leadership Board meets in public for the first time this week.
This is where our health partners will come together to implement the system-wide vision for the North Cumbria Health and Care System. It will review and gain assurances from partners on the delivery of supporting strategies as well as plans and programmes of work across health and care.
The System Leadership Board (SLB) has been meeting in shadow form for several months.
The chief officers and chairs of the NHS North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group, Cumbria Partnership Foundation NHS Trust and North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust sit on SLB with other senior officers and non-executive directors and lay members.
Cumbria County Council has representatives on SLB who will be able to inform and influence key decisions, as part of contributing to the plans and strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of our local population. However, the county council’s democratic and governance processes will continue to be followed when taking decisions.
Ramona Duguid, director of integration for the North Cumbria Health and Care System said: “We know that working together will be the only way we can meet the increasing demands on our health and care system. Our commissioners and providers have been working more closely together and this is the next step in making sure we always focus on doing the right thing for our community, rather than our individual organisations.”
The bi-monthly meetings will be held in public and there will be the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions at the end of part one about issues on the agenda. This already happens at Health Trust Board meetings and the CCG Governing Body meetings.
The agenda and any supporting public papers will be published 3 days before the meeting at: www.northcumbriahealthandcare.nhs.uk/making-it-happen/system-leadership-board-slb
The first meeting will be held on Thursday Sept 6th at 10.30 am at the LEP Conference Centre, Redhills, Penrith.
