North Cumbria Integrated Care Partnership Leaders Board

Meeting Summary 5th March 2020

Our System Leadership Board met last week. It is made up of leaders from the North Cumbria Health and Care System including NHS providers and commissioners, primary care, public health, the county council, Cumbria Police, Healthwatch and Cumbria CVS.

At this meeting we had an update on the challenges around performance and finance after a challenging winter.

There was a presentation to the board about the progress being made to grow our future workforce through a programme of school engagement, cross organisation support for the annual Blue Light Event and innovative ways of offering work experience. There was also a focus on the growth in apprenticeships – did you know the oldest apprentice in north Cumbria is currently 54? There were updates on quality, performance and finance.

The Director of Public Health Colin Cox also gave an update on the response to Covid-19, emphasising the situation is changing every day.

The Board also approved the way we approach co-production and endorsed an approach to change which involves patients, staff and our community.

It was also the last meeting for chair Professor Robin Talbot and CCG Accountable Officer and Medical Director Dr David Rogers. They both retire at the end of March after many years’ service to our health system.
