Calling all nurses and midwives
Two NHS Trusts in Cumbria are inviting nurses and midwives who want to progress their careers to attend an innovative recruitment day this November.
Nurses and midwives at all stages of their career – from those considering the professions and students soon to graduate to those looking to return to practice or simply make their next career move – are all encouraged to attend.
North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust (NCUH) and Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) are hosting the recruitment day at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. They will be joined by the University of Cumbria so health professionals of the future can hear first-hand about training and working in Cumbria.
A wide range of nursing roles are available across the Trusts including mental health, community, and acute care. Information will be provided on the day about the exciting career pathways available to nurses and midwives joining the NHS in Cumbria.
Amanda Dunkley, HR Lead at CPFT and NCUH, added:
“We have such a wide range of roles and development opportunities for all levels of experience. It’s great to be able to work together and showcase these in one place. I’d encourage anyone considering, or looking to progress, a nursing or midwifery career to come along and meet the teams. It could be the start of an exciting new chapter!”
There will be workshops and site tours of the Cumberland Infirmary, West Cumberland Infirmary, Ambulance station and other local health services. Interviews will also take place on the day to speed up the recruitment process for attendees who have already applied for a nursing or midwifery role in one of the two trusts via NHS Jobs.
This follows three previous events which have resulted in the successful recruitment of health professionals from across the UK for both Trusts as well as supporting student recruitment for the university.
Feedback from previous attendees has been very positive. One attendee said:
“The whole team is fantastic, supportive and friendly. I felt very comfortable during the entire session along with the others.”
Dr Louise Nelson, Head of Nursing at the University of Cumbria, commented:
“Helping potential students navigate career options is a hugely worthwhile experience that my staff are always delighted to be part of. All of our nursing courses are accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council and nearly 100% of our students gain employment upon graduation so come on down to meet us and you’ll never know where you an initial chat might take you.”
The recruitment day will take place on 3 November, 10.00 – 16.00, at the Education Centre, Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. Attendees can come for the full day or simply drop in for more information about working in Cumbria.
Those considering studying nursing or midwifery with University of Cumbria can come along to meet current health professionals, tutors and students for guidance on applying and an insight into the course and profession. There will even be interviews on the day for those who wish to apply to university. Prospective students should book a place in advance via www.cumbria.ac.uk.
